Paid Services from Apple
Apple is launching a paid, ad-free video portal for its own original movies and TV shows called Apple TV+. The goal is to make Apple TV home for the "world's most creative storytellers," providing funding and a platform for TV shows, movies, and documentaries with "inspiriting and authentic stories with emotional depth and compelling characters." This service is expected to launch in Fall 2019.
Apple News+ is a monthly subscription service that will give readers access to more than 300 magazines and leading newspapers all in one place. You will be able to create your own newsstand as well as access current and back issues.
iPads Get a Facelift
Apple announced the new iPad Air and iPad Mini this month. The iPad Air features a 10.5” Retina display, an A12 Bionic processor and support for the Apple Pencil. It delivers 70% boost in performance and twice the graphics capability and advanced Retina display with True Tone technology. This is replacing the 10.5-inch iPad Pro which can still be rented.
The compact, ultra-portable 7.9” iPad Mini brings Apple Pencil, advanced display and A12 Bionic Chip. The multi-tasking iPad Mini will deliver 3X the performance and 9X faster on graphics. With its thin, light and portable design, the iPad Mini is the perfect on-the-go device for busy professionals.
The sleek, all-in-one design iMac is updated with the latest 8-core Intel 9th generation processor (offering a boost in performance) and powerful Vega graphics (the same that is used in the iMac Pro); the iMac delivers dramatic increases in both computing and graphics performance. The desktop offers the brightest, most vibrant Retina display ever on a Mac, and continues Apple’s tradition to transform the desktop experience.
Smallest Business Laptop
Dell’s small, sleek business laptop is a premium aluminum convertible notebook with an incredibly slim bezel; up to 24 hours of battery life and an adaptive Windows Hello feature that can detect when you are approaching the laptop. The company says “the goal was to make a machine that would offer the performance and features of a professional machine and the looks of a premium consumer notebook.” This will become an essential tool for on-the-go business professionals.
